1. The history of cienema.
The inventors of cinema were French, not American. The Lumiere brothers gave the first public show in France in 1895. In that first film, a train came towards the camera. People ran out of the cinema thinking it was a real train!
But the United States film industry developed more quickly. The sunlight in Hollywood, California, was good for making films (electric light was not strong enough). And from 1914 to 1918 there was war in Europe. In the 1920s Hollywood made 80% of the world’s films. Of course, language didn’t matter, because the films were silent.
The cinema became popular very quickly. In 1908 the USA had 10,000 cinemas (called ‘nickel-odeons’ because it cost a ‘nickel’, five cents, to get in) with twenty 11. million customers a week. In 1918 the film star Mary Pickford was the most famsous woman in the world, she received $350,000 per film.

2. A shopping centre in China has a glass ice cream vending machine. There is a robot inside it that can serve people six types of ice cream.
People of all ages come to see the robot which costs 160,000 pounds. The robot’s movements are highly accurate and a computer controls them.

I think that this robot make our lives comfortable, and is very necessary thing to people. But there are second point of view, if the robots will work in shopping malls and other places, where are working humans, they will disturb them, and they will stay unemployed. In spite of everything it's very interesting and necessary invention.
3. Michael Jackson "Earth Song".It is one of my favorite songs, which is about environment issues, wars and other crimes, that we do every day of our being. He say that we will look what we have done, we, humans, are polluting the clean earth, we are polluting our lives, lives of our children. We have lost trust of nature, we're ravaging seas, forests and holy land. We should stop it for us, for our children, for our earth.
